The R.M.S Titanic (by the White Star line) was a ship launched in 1912, which sank on it's maiden voyage. Regarded as ''unsinkable'', this was one of the deadliest marine disasters in history. Beginning on it's journey to New York City from Southampton, it was at that time the largest and most luxurious passenger liner of that time. Over 2,200 people boarded it, yet they only supplied 16 lifeboats and four were Inflatable (only able to carry about 700-800) -it was considered unsinkable.
It was designed by expert engineers, with the most advanced technology at that time. They extended safety standards until they could not any more, yet it sank to the very bottom of the ocean, causing a frenzy in media. Legends of how it sank were going on, and the high loss of life created this incident of of the most famous disasters of all time.
Starting on it's maiden voyage to New York, April 10 1912, Southampton, it was launched into the water with a mass chorus of screams of delight and yells. Little did they know that this was about to be one of the worst disasters in history.
For a few days, it was all good. The weather was good, no problems with the crew, and the luxury on that ship was astounding. First class had a squash court, Turkish baths, electric baths, a lending library, a barber shop, a swimming pool and a gym. It was decorated with ornate furniture, wood paneling, and things to make it like a floating hotel. The dinners in there were served with the greatest care, with technology we have today to make it easier.
It happened on April 14, 1912 at . The Titanic had failed to receive signals about large icebergs in their path, with the operators more focused on the signals of the passengers. At 11:40 p.m, the iceberg struck the Titanic, breaking the hull, and letting water flood in. The workers in the boiler room were knocked straight of their feet, and soon, the rooms flooded. The rooms that were designed to not let water in were also flooded, due to a gap between the bulkheads separating the rooms. The destiny of the Titanic was sealed-there was no ship in many miles, and the distress call was not heard. The musicians, knowing their fate, started to play songs, their final memento to the sky. The crew, understanding that they were never going to see land again, saved many. All women and children were to go first. All the 1,500 people on board climbed to the top of the ship, desperately clinging on to their fateful thread of life. Only about 705 people were saved from their doom on the Titanic, women and children. Loved ones had died without hope, lying in the sea, set in their destiny for eternity. Less than 1/3 people made it out, and the disaster was forever engraved in their hearts.
73 years later
In a miniature submarine riding through the ocean, 2 explorers searched for the Titanic. Reaching deeper down into the supposed area, they waited for 2 long hours that seemed like eternity. They would be the first in 73 years to find the lost ship, which had mysteriously sank on that fateful night. At last ! It was eerie, a vast green shape glowing in the darkness. Two halves of that ship had trailed into the deep sea, with enough pressure to crumple a human being up like an aluminum can. Focusing on the first half, the could see the remains of the lost wonder. Doors still creaked open, and you could clearly see the grand staircase. A little doll sat there in a corner, corroded with age. Was it left by a child, knowing it's fate, trying to tell the world about this sad tale ? Going up to the surface, with mingled feelings of sadness and triumph, a group of people had discovered the lost fantasy that lies at the bottom of the ocean, saying it's farewell, knowing to never be seen again.
